Thank you for sharing with me the passing of Reuben. You have my condolences and regardless of the circumstances the passing of a parent is a sad event. Reuben always took the time to be available to us, his customers and I always looked forward to my visits with Reuben at your mill site. He was a very good lumberman and a credit to the industry and is to be congratulated for successfully bringing you, his family, into the business on a firm foundation of continued success. No small thing to succeed at in this challenging industry and you are a credit to this legacy. I am not sure how well your dad expressed this to you, but I am sure he did feel a great sense of pride in the abilities you developed. I know we, your customers and friends certainly feel it and deeply appreciate our mutual successes achieved together. Please give a toast of thankfulness from us.
Sincerely yours,
Peter Miles, retired, Northland Forest Products Inc

To the family of Reuben, especially Benny, Stephen Roddy and Lynn Ricker. It was with great sadness that I read of you dad's passing this morning. In all the years I visited at the mill, I always enjoyed visiting with your dad especially when the new mill was built and knowing I was a volunteer firefighter, showing me the concrete fire pond that you had included in the new mill. Also, reading about your first mill in Maine burning, I now know why you left your old mill intact and when a fire burned out the Parker Brothers mill, your offer of the use of you old mill possibly saved yet another Maine institution.
As well as your families, Maine has lost yet another great saw mill operator. I am glad I had the privilege of knowing him and learning more about the hardwood lumber business than is taught in books.
Kindest personal regards, Pete Lammert, Maine Forest Service, retired.

Dear Lumbra family- My deepest sympathies to all of you. I only had a few chances to meet Reuben but I knew from that first meeting, that he loved his family deeply. He leaves behind a remarkable family-some I know better than others. Cherish all the wonderful memories you have of him, they will help you through this difficult time.
