Obituary of Patricia A. (Wortman) Sherman
Greenville and Greenbush- Patricia Ann (Wortman) Sherman, 85, wife of the late Glenwood L. Sherman, Sr., passed away April 12, 2017, at a Bangor nursing home two days shy of her 86th birthday. She was born April 14, 1931, in Greenville, the daughter of Llewellyn F. and Mary S. (Harris) Wortman. Patricia graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 and worked as a dental hygienist before her time as a mother and homemaker. She later worked at the Greenbush town office retiring at 82. She served on the Planning Board for the Town of Greenbush, acting as a Chair for several years. Patricia enjoyed summers at camp in Greenville and playing dominoes and cribbage on the beach at Harfords Point with her sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Edie Sherman and her wife, Cindy Leiffer of Orrington; two sons, Glenwood Sherman, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Greenbush, and Eric Sherman and his wife, Polly of Greenville; two brothers, John Wortman and his wife, Freda of Dexter, and Roland Wortman of Greenville; two sisters and best friends, Mary Verga and her husband, Roy of Queens, New York City, and Isa Squiers and her husband, William of South Portland and Harfords Point; seven grandchildren, William Miles, Judy Mills, Dane Miles, Nicholas Sherman, Erin Veino, Gabrielle Sherman, and Tricia Sherman; nine great-grandchildren, Delaney and Rachel Miles, Eliza and Brayden Chambers, Rowan and Hazel Miles, Lauren and Allison Veino, and Blakelyn Sherman; brother-in-law, Donald Merrill and his wife, Deanne of Milo; sisters-in-law, Rita Sherman of Ashland, and Jean Wortman of Greenville, and dozens of special nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Patricia was predeceased by an infant son, Roger Sherman, and a brother, Llewellyn F. Wortman, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8PM Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Lary Funeral Home Greenville Chapel, 281 Pritham Ave., Greenville, where a funeral service will be held 11AM Tueday, April 18, 2017, with Rev. Margaret Beckman officiating. After the funeral, a reception will be held at the Bartley Family Event Center, 241 Pritham Ave., Greenville. Burial will be later in the spring in the family lot in the Greenville Cemetery.
