I had the great privilege of meeting Althea at the Sebec Village Church in 2007 and attended Bible study there with her until 2010 when I moved away. What a truly lovely woman, caring and loving and giving of herself. I will always remember her beauty and grace. She will be missed by many to whom she gave much.
My Sympathy and Peace,
Bonnie

We remember meeting Althea many years ago at the camp on Schoodic lake that belonged to Jane Prescott. Jane had invited us to meet the gals in "club" for lunch. We had recently moved to Dover Foxcroft and had one new born baby girl and one 2 1/2 year old girl. Jane was a patient of Dave's and desperately wanted the new "Doc" to stay. We remember the entire visit very clearly. We arrived at her camp with the "club" ladies their to greet us. Our new born, lucy, was a crying mess, and our 2 1/2 year old was all over the place with curiosity. Both parents, completely exhausted! Althea gently took Lucy from my arms and told me she had a "way" with babies. In truth, I immediately found out that Althea was simply magical with babies. Lucy immediately went to sleep in Althea's loving arms, and Jane Prescott chased Amelia around the camp until they were both tuckered out! What was most meaningful was that there was this group of determined older women who had been together for so many years. They were true friends that did what they could for their hometown people. These women, the women of "Club", met weekly and each paid a small amount to come to "club" which they used for the less fortunate of their town. I was once invited to one of the "club" get togethers and was most touched at the prayer they said so deeply from their hearts at the beginning of the meeting...."We thank the Lord for happy hearts, for rain & sunny weather. We thank the Lord for this our food and that we are here together". I think that Althea is the last remaining member of the "club" ladies. Rest in peace, Althea, with all the other members of "club". Your good works and loving acts of kindness are not forgotten. With gratitude and love, The McDermott Family

I was honored to have cared professionally for both Carl and Althea...what fun conversations, poems, anecdotes about Schoodic, a pesky bass fish and tales of family in our patient visits! It has been over a decade now but both of them are fondly remembered by me and I know always will be.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. May God comfort you and give you peace. My Dad taught me that even though your mom lived to be 97, no time is a good time to lose your mom, and perhaps it is even more difficult, because you have so many more wonderful memories. (((Hugs)))

What a sparkle your mom had in her eye. It was no wonder she and your father fell in love, and no surprise that the sparkle doubled in intensity in their children! I am so glad that she is with your dad again - a pair like that shouldn't be long apart. My thoughts are with you all. Eric

Blessed we were to be raised by so many loving neighborhood Moms. We will miss your dear mother, but we have wonderful memories of fall leaves burning on the side of Clinton Street, and maple syrup poured on hot biscuits in the spring, and snowmen and snow caves in winter and hours of indulgent parents allowing us to be just kids. Thinking tonight of you Cynthia, Stephen, Carla and Julie. With love, The Withams
