Milo- Nelson Edward London, 86, passed away peacefully January 20, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born April 1, 1930, in Milo, the son of George Lee London and Anniebelle (McLaughlin) London. Nelson graduated from Milo High School and then left to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving at Ladd Air Base in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Nelson worked at Great Northern Paper Company. He retired after more than 30 years from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. Through many of these years Nelson also worked as a barber in Old Town for John LeBlanc. Nelson was a member of the Milo United Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon. He and his wife later joined the Bradford Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion. Nelson and his family enjoyed many years on Schoodic Lake. He enjoyed his flower gardens and special times at his hunting camp. Nelson was an artist, a hunter, a fisherman, a carpenter, and a true friend to all. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Madeline (Burton) London, and four children, Timothy London and his wife Debbie of Milo, Debora Page and her husband Gary of Milo, Janet Grant and her husband Jeffrey of Dover-Foxcroft, and Laurie Rublee and her husband Rick of Milo; 15 grandchildren- Tim, Toni, Kevin, Kristi; Andrea, Michelle; Nelson, Katie, Shyla, Felicity, Paul, Elizabeth; Austin, Karen, Kristen; also 25 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Larry London, Johnny London, Sister-in-laws Judy London, Eloise Hathorn and her husband Bobby, Jeannette Towne and her husband Pete, Eleanor Perry and her husband John, Calla London; one brother-in-law Raymond Burton and his wife Georgia, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Earl and Billy, his grandson Adam, two great grandchildren, Samantha and Bennett. The family wishes to thank CHCS Hospice for their loving care during his illness with Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia; and a special thank you to his grandson, Austin Bell, who stayed by his side through these last weeks. Family and friends may call 6-8pm Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo. A funeral service will be conducted 1pm Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Milo United Baptist Church with Pastors Philip McGlauflin and Donald Booker officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, in the Spring.
