Obituary of Dorothy E. Andrews
Atkinson – Dorothy Eddy Andrews passed away in her sleep January 9, 2017, with her husband, Basil, by her side. Dot was born February 11, 1931, to Charles and Evelyn (Farr) Eddy. She was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1949, and married Basil Andrews June 21, 1949. After many years as a true farmer’s wife, Dot worked for 20 years at Mayo Memorial Hospital and Mayo Regional Hospital. She served as a nurse’s aide and a unit secretary. Dot was a long- time member of the Atkinson Methodist Church. She was known for her many interests, especially baking and quilting. She also played a mean game of Yahtzee!
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Basil; her sister; her children, Janice Flowers, Linda Roebuck, Samuel Andrews and his wife, Martha, and David Andrews; her son-in-law, Vaughn Lancaster; three grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife, Lynn, Mark and his wife, Autumn, and Holly and her husband, Shaun; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kaden, Kolton, and Zoey. Dot had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, including her best friend and sister-in-law, Sara Harvey. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, and her daughter, Susan.
Friends are invited to call from 12:00 noon until time of memorial service at 2:00pm Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the Atkinson Methodist Church, Stagecoach Road, Atkinson, with Pastor Mark Stevens officiating. A gathering with refreshments will follow the service at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dot’s memory may be made to the Atkinson Methodist Church, 130 Maple Road, Atkinson 04426, or to Beacon Hospice, 304 Hancock St, Bangor 04401, or to Mayo Regional Hospital, 897 W Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft 04426.
