Obituary of Paul Rogers Sherburne
Milo, ME and Sun City Center, FL – Paul Rogers Sherburne, passed away January 5, 2025, at Palm Garden of Sun City Center. He was born on August 24, 1939, in Milo, the son of Wilson A. and Pauline (Rogers) Sherburne.
Following graduation from Milo High School and military service as an electronics technician in the US Navy (post-Korea and pre-Vietnam) he earned the first of three college degrees (mathematics, psychology and management), culminating in a doctorate from Michigan State University in 1968. A series of positions in university administration was followed by a twenty-year career as a small business owner and retail store planning consultant. Paul served in the Defense Department while working for the US Marine Corps in eastern North Carolina, then the VA at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth. Paul retired to Florida in the late 1990s to spend time with his family and golf.
He steadfastly remained in touch with close friends and family through travel, phone and email. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and writing books, and watching golf.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Beth Russell and her husband, Tim, Megan Sciera and her husband, Brian; four grandchildren, Ethan, Jared, Hallie, and Hayden; brother, John Sherburne and his wife, Melinda; sister-in-law, Janice Sherburne; and several extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Sherburne.
A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring or summer at the family lot in the Evergreen Cemetery, Milo. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
