Obituary of Anne P. Williams

Greenville- Anne Peterson Williams, 93, passed peacefully Sunday morning, December 8, 2024, in New Jersey. She was born April 25, 1931, and shared her birthdate with her identical twin sister, Edythe Buchter, her only sibling. She was raised in Montclair, NJ and attended Lacordaire Academy. She met her husband Roy Williams Jr. from Hamden, Connecticut on the beach in Atlantic City on a family vacation. They were married in Montclair December 27, 1952, and were married for 62 years. Her beloved parents moved to Spring Lake and she followed them. She lived and raised her family of 4 in Spring Lake. Her twin sister also resided there with her three children. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s, St. Margaret’s parish. In 1973, she moved to Deerfield Beach, FL for a few years and made frequent trips to Hopetown in the Bahamas where they had a house and many local friends. In 1977, they moved to Greenville, Maine, when they bought Sanders General Store which they owned and ran for a few years. She adopted the Maine Northwoods lifestyle. She enjoyed the people, the mountains, and the seasons. She was the first one swimming in Moosehead Lake in the spring and last one to swim in the fall. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church where she was very active in all of their services and social activities. She would claim that Maine was her true home. She was an eternal optimist which she said was a gift from God. She was a kind mother and extended her generous and joyful spirit to all. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Malhame and her husband Richard; three sons, Roy F. Williams III and his wife, Joette, Ward F. Williams. and his wife, Elizabeth, Scott A. Williams and his wife, Mary Beth; seven grandchildren, Ward, Andrew, Andrea, Maria, Nicholas, Jacob, Christopher Williams; six great grandchildren, Isabella, Salvatore, Conor, Natalie, Ella, and Clara; and her niece, Laura Curran, and nephew, Chris Towle and his wife, Diane. She was pre deceased by her beloved husband, sister, Edythe, and her nephew, Nelson Towle. A funeral Mass was held in New Jersey. A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday August 19, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be after in the Greenville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
