Obituary of Thomas R. Munn
Greenville – Thomas “Tom” R. Munn, died Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born on May 22, 1944 to William and Edna (Keenan) Munn.
Tom was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth “Liz” (Chadwick) Munn who passed on 2/13/2019. They made their home in Greenville for over 20 years. Tom grew up In Massachusetts and attended school in Dorchester MA. He served in the 2nd Armored Div of 1st Cav and 25th infantry known as “Tropic Lightning”, the most well -known U.S. Army infantry group during the Vietnam War. He served with distinction and honor with the 1st Cav Armored Div. Tom earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Tom was a resident of the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor for the last few years where he was comfortable. The staff was excellent in taking care of all Tom’s needs.
Members of his family include his sisters-in-law, Joanne Tramontozzi of Windham, NH, Mary MacLeod of Dayton, OH, and Caroline Chadwick of Derry, NH.
Special thanks to the American Legion, Greenville and New Life Church of Greenville for their support through Tom’s Transition to assisted living, and Bangor EMT’s who transported Tom in his hour of need.
