Obituary of Marcia E. (Herring) Tyler

Dover-Foxcroft - It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved spouse, mother, grandmother (Bee), sister, and friend, Marcia E. (Herring) Tyler, 79. Mother passed away October 15, 2024, peacefully, surrounded by her family after a short illness. Mom was born August 26, 1945, in Dexter, the daughter of Lorin C. and Barbara E. (Perkins) Herring. She recently enjoyed her 60th class reunion from PCHS in Guilford. Mom married Paul J. Hayes and quickly became a mother to Scott and then Lori. In 1976 she became the spouse of Randy and a mother again to Alicia. Their 48th wedding anniversary was just 6 days before her passing. She spent time as a bookkeeper to Rowell’s Garage and enjoyed working with children as a teacher and for preschools through the years. Mom’s greatest joy was family and she spent the majority of her time with them. Family home-cooked meals were at 6pm. Fresh baked goods were always present and displayed in her glass dome. Donut muffins, flood brownies, cakes and blueberry muffins were just a few things we could raid from the fridge or dome when we would come visit her. Mom’s home was her sanctuary and dad worked tirelessly to fine tune construction as mother elegantly decorated and tended to the gardens. This home was a source of pride for them both. If mom was not home baking, cooking, or crafting her own decorating pieces, or keeping dad on track with his puttering, she was off on many adventures with her “sister squad” shopping, sightseeing, and eating great food with her sister, Sherry, and daughters, Lori and Alicia. Later in life mom became too weak to walk and dad faithfully and devotionally cared for her in all the ways he could as she had to him through the years, including making her bacon every morning. As much as we, her children, lovingly teased mother, we were so thankful for the childhood she gave us and consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to show our love in tasks for her in the end. Marcia was predeceased by her parents and several aunts and uncles. Her survivors are those she loved very, very much. She is survived by her spouse, Randall J. Tyler; son, Scott A. Hayes and his wife, Debra (Bonsey) Hayes; daughter, Lorene H. (Hayes) Sands and her husband, Jamie M. Sands; daughter, Alicia E. Mills and her husband, Douglas M. Mills; her grandchildren, Jerod Hayes and wife, Kathryn Hayes, Garrett Sands and wife, Lindsay Sands, Justin Hayes and wife, Samantha Hayes, Kylie Watson and husband, James Watson, Michaela Hayes and husband, Maurvin Patce, Spencer Carey and Emily Brawn, and Sullivan Carey whom she helped raise in his childhood; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Cohen, and Aubrey Sands, Michael and Madeline Hayes, Benjamin and Emma Hayes, Ahnaleigh and Chandler Watson, and Baby boy Carey is also due very soon; Mom’s baby sister, Sherry French and her husband, Jim French; and brother, Stephen Herring, will greatly miss her also; her Uncle Charlie and Aunt Clara Perkins and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mom shares “ In times of reflection, I would state that sometimes a big close family could make an individual very selfish as one never had to reach too far for companionship, moral support, or a shoulder to lean on.” Mom was never selfish, fortunately, and was always so giving. Mom, we would like you to know that all the special joys in life, the big ones and the small, a mother’s love and tender care sweetest of them all. There will be a private gathering and graveside committal on October 27, 2024, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Penquis Journey House, 59 Free Street, Dexter, ME, 04930. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and aids of Northern Light Mayo Hospital for the phenomenal care given to our mother in her final days. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com
