Obituary of Ralph E. Jones, Jr.
Milo, Maine - Ralph Edmond Jones, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, at Northern Light Mayo Hospital, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, after a years’ long battle with cancer.
Ralph was born in Brockton, Massachusetts to Ralph E. Jones and Mary J. Bergeron Jones on January 10, 1950. He went to high school at East Bridgewater High School and graduated in 1968. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English with honors from the University of Maine. During his studies, Ralph had a particular interest in the poems of Emily Dickinson.
As a lifelong outdoor sports enthusiast, Ralph dedicated many years of his life to hunting and fishing pursuits. He crafted wooden canvas canoes and owned and operated R and S Sports Shop in Massachusetts and Firearm’s Etc. in Milo, Maine. He also loved motorcycles, Porsches, and muscle cars, easily identifying, on sight, the make, model, and year of any vintage automobile. He was an avid reader, a patriotic citizen of the United States, and a staunch defender of the United States Constitution.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Jane S. Jones of Milo, Maine; his children Ralph E. Jones, III and wife, Kristen, of Milo, Maine, and Sarah J. Waugh and husband, Eben ,of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; his sister, Karen Lansing of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his brother, Theodore Perry of Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Brandon Waugh and wife, Patricia, of Etna, Maine, Chloe Waugh and Amy Waugh of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, and Joshua Jones and Jacob Jones of Milo, Maine; his great grandchildren, Harper Waugh and Maverick Waugh of Etna, Maine; lifelong friend, Kenneth Krushas of Plymouth, Massachusetts; and close friend, Scott Burton of Milo, Maine. He also leaves behind his beloved pets, Echo, an African Gray parrot, and Jeff, a Jack Russell Terrier.
There will be no services per Ralph’s request. A celebration of life will be planned soon.
