Obituary of Deborah P. Gillard
Sebec – Deborah G. (Purnell) Gillard, 62, wife of Steven Gillard, passed away peacefully September 28, 2024, at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, after a brief illness. She was born May 26, 1962, and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, the daughter of Richard and Florence (Bullock) Purnell.
Debbi started her career in the banking industry and later went into the food industry where she learned to become a great cook. She loved to watch cooking shows and read cook books as well.
Debbi always had a warm, innocent smile on her face and it shined through. She loved fairies and all things mystical but they were real to her. She loved all creatures on Earth and has a special place in her heart for all of them. She was an avid reader of mystical things and romance novels. She took care of her mother and father until their passing and at the time of her passing was taking care of her aunt, Ellie. Debbi’s husband was very pleased that she took such great care of people and she once told him that she was here to take care of people. He could ask her anything; she had such knowledge of all things to do with life. She enjoyed time at her dad’s camp on Sebec Lake and listening to the precious loons singing. Debbi was a member of the Sebec Village Church Ladies Circle and enjoyed their meetings and helping out with their functions.
Steven wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Laura Jobe for being such a special person and helping Debbi get to the other side peacefully. He expresses, “It’s been a long 46 years and will miss you forever Debbi. I asked Jesus to help you get through the end in peace and I thank Him for that. I love you so much Debbi. All who met you will miss you.”
Donations in Debbi’s memory may be made to the Sebec Village Church, 734 Sebec Village Road, Sebec, ME 04481. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
