Obituary of Nancy Evelyn Watler
Greenville – Nancy Evelyn Watler, 83, passed away August 14, 2024, at her home. She was born September 11, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Donald G. and Marion S. (Boysen) Spaulding. She was a graduate of Mound High School in Mound, Minnesota, and attended Valparaiso University.
Nancy was a homemaker and owned two small businesses. In 1969, she created a successful handcrafted candle company, NeCanCo, in Romeo, Michigan. She opened and operated the Mainely Scandinavian Bed and Breakfast in Greenville in the 1980s. Nancy was active in the Greenville community since the 1970s. She was a volunteer and lifetime member of the Moosehead Historical Society and Museums, a Girl Scout leader, and served on the Greenville School Board. She was an avid and skilled driver, and enjoyed driving school bus in both Romeo and Greenville, and competed in club level road racing in Michigan.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Karl W. Watler; two sons, W. Randall Watler and his wife,
Ann Claussen, of Evergreen, Colorado, and Charles D. Watler and his wife, Patricia, of Northbridge, Massachusetts; daughter, Jamie W. Schnetzer and husband, Michael, of Belfast, Maine; sister, Donna M. Jones and her husband, Donald, of Plymouth, Minnesota; and seven grandchildren, Kristopher and Sarah Watler, Patrick, Julia, and Rachel Watler and Michael and William Schnetzer. She was predeceased by her parents.
A private memorial service will be held at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Augusta. Donations in the memory of Nancy may be made to her church:
