Obituary of Lauren S. Drake

Hermon and Greenville – Lauren S. Drake, 78, passed away August 12, 2024, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born September 10, 1945, in Greenville, the daughter of Henry H. Spencer and Olive L. (McEachern) S. Breton. Lauren grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1963. Lauren started her working career as a telephone operator on the switchboard in Portland. She later worked at Grumman Aerospace on Long Island as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief Test Pilot. While at Grumman, Lauren met and married her husband, Michael Drake. The couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 12, 2024. She also enjoyed her time as special event coordinator for the Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton, New York. After retirement, Lauren and her husband, Michael, toured all over in their motor home and she loved meeting all the new people. Traveling was one of her favorite things and she also enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and going to the casino. She loved hosting parties and spending time with her family and friends. Lauren very much loved her four-legged family of six rescued golden retrievers. Lauren is survived by her husband, Michael; brother, Dwight Spencer; two sisters, Cindy Ranta and Jodi Breton; nieces and nephews, Kim Plourde and her husband, Jim, Billy Ranta and his wife, Marilou; Stacey Herrick and husband, Steve, and Bryce Breton; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A celebration of Lauren’s life will be held 4-6 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter in Lauren’s memory. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
