Obituary of David Charles Morrill

Old Orchard Beach and Greenville – David Charles Morrill, 74, passed away peacefully July 17, 2024, surrounded by family in his home in Old Orchard Beach. He was born November 17, 1949, in Milo, the son of Joel D. and Priscilla B. (Lawler) Morrill. David was multi-talented with numerous and varying interests. He was an educator for 40+ years having worked as an industrial arts teacher, guidance counselor, and eventually superintendent in the Greenville schools. David also worked as an EMT and Red Cross volunteer. One of his many side projects was maintaining The Home Workshop, an engraving-trophies-t shirt business. At a point in time, David was a volunteer firefighter and in the Navy Reserves. He was an excellent cook who enjoyed experimenting with new recipes. His breakfasts were legendary. David was an avid reader and lifelong learner even taking up whittling and crocheting in the later years. Above all, David was a devoted husband and family man, a loving father, and caring friend. Often times, he shied from the limelight but took great care and interest in people and things from the background. David and his wife, Jeannette, founded UPHill Journeys, a non-profit program and passion project providing support/finance for PH patients. His wisdom and practicality coupled with a high emotional acuity will be greatly missed. David is survived by two sons, Brian (Kang Soon Mo) Morrill and wife, Vivi (Thjang) and their son, Kai, and Ian (Kang Kang Mo) Morrill; brother, Larry Morrill and wife, Donna; and many extended family members from the Morrill and Beckwith families. David was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette Marie (Beckwith) Morrill; parents, Joel and Priscilla; and sister, Holly Swazey. A graveside Masonic service will be held 1PM Friday, August 2, 2024, at the family lot in the Greenville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Uphill Journeys, 53 Wild Dunes Way, G3, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064 or at https://fundraising.mmc.org/uphilljourneys.
