Obituary of Lenora Frances Bradbury Merrill

Dover-Foxcroft - Lenora Frances Bradbury Merrill, 75, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 24, 1948,in Dover-Foxcroft to Dr. Francis W. and Mary (Wingard) Bradbury, Nora lived a full life of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community. Nora attended Foxcroft Academy and went on to marry the love of her life, Jeffrey Decker Merrill, Sr. They married on November 13, 1965, and remained married for 58 years. She was a devoted full-time mom, her children’s biggest supporter, and never missed a sporting event, dance recital, concert, or school function. She was quick to volunteer as a coach, classroom helper, and bake sale organizer, and cherished the time she spent caring for children. Known for preparing amazing food, Nora always cooked enough for extra company and friends. Her amazing meals and snacks will be hard to duplicate, and she set a high bar with her homemaking skills. As much as she loved being a mom, that role didn’t come close to her most beloved role as “Nana”. She poured her heart into making sure all her grandchildren experienced the most magical holidays in Thomaston and at the farm, enjoyed trips to Old Orchard Beach, and had the ultimate summertime fun at camp. Nora is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff, of Dover-Foxcroft; her sister, Priscilla McCourt of Dexter; her children, Maria and Mark Hurt of Herndon, Virginia, Mary Melissa “Missy” and Gordon Hall of Dover-Foxcroft, Jeffrey Decker II and Beth Merrill of Naples, Jody and Scott Coy of Dover-Foxcroft, and Shawn Merrill of Dover-Foxcroft. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon (Vanessa) Hall, Samantha (Scott) McKusick, Jeffrey Decker III (Devin) Merrill, Kathryn (Nicholas) Quasnitschka, Julia and Jillian Annis, Dylan and Carter Coy, Cierra, Zachary, Jenna, Ryan and Jocelyn Merrill, and Alicia, Joseph, and John LeBerre; her great-grandchildren, Payson and Kinsley Hall, Emmeline and Jack McKusick, Jeffrey Decker IV “JD” and Ada Merrill, Willa Quasnitschka, and Violet Jo Stephens. Nora was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Mary, and her brothers, Jeff, and Francis “Junior” Bradbury. Nora’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and friends, especially Ann Scribner and Diane Lord, who provided support and comfort during her final days. She will be greatly missed but forever remembered for her kind heart and fun-loving spirit. A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Merrill Camp, 166 Highland Road in Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nora’s memory to the Lisa Pangburn Memorial Fund, benefitting the children of SeDoMoCha. Donations can be sent to the Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union, 995 W Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
