Veazie and Greenville - Clarence “Bub” Winfield Ryder, 85, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born in Greenville on March 4, 1931, to Freda Beckwith and Charles Winfield Ryder. He was predeceased by his sister, Norma. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Donna; their sons, Michael and his wife, Megan; Robert and his former wife, Elizabeth; his grand-children, Brandon, Casey, Carolyn, and Chad; his sisters, Mary Genest and Vella Crossman; and his niece and nephews. Bub was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1949, where he was known for his athleticism in football, basketball, and baseball. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and when he was honorably discharged, he became an exemplary crane operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4 of Boston, of which he was a proud member for 62 years. In their retirement, Bub and Donna spent time with family and friends at their camp on Moosehead Lake, Florida, and their home in Veazie. They enjoyed traveling with his lifelong friend, Jim McNaughton and wife, Mary, of Coronado, California. Above all he loved his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, love, and generosity. Memorial visitations will be held 4pm to 6pm Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Lary Funeral Home, located in the Masonic Hall, Greenville, ME. Spring graveside services will be held at Greenville Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Bub in a special way may contribute to the Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mt.
