Obituary of Patricia Ann (Gray) Markie

Mattawamkeag – Patricia Ann (Gray) Markie, 83, went to her Lord and Savior January 22, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born October 29, 1940, in Lincoln, the daughter of Harold and Leona (Burgoyne) Gray. Pat was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She loved to go camping with her family. She was a world traveler, going on cruises, traveling to several different countries. She enjoyed hunting and would occasionally be found with a gun in her hand, shooting at a partridge. Guess what was for supper that night! Pat did ceramics for several years and gave most of it away to family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her raspberry pie; she picked her raspberries from her own raspberry patch. She was also known for her graham cracker pie, Christmas salad and bread. She was most certainly loved by her family - including her church family, and friends. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and her church. Pat is survived by two brothers, Ronald Gray and his wife, Clara, and Dennis Gray and his wife, Bonnie; two sisters, Carol Ireland and her significant other, Herman, and Sylvia Clough. She also leaves two sons, Timothy and his wife, Beth, and Harley. She proudly assumed the role of grandmother to Brandon Markie and his significant other, Kasey, and their children, Maggie, Alex, Johnathan, and Kyliegh; Dailyn Markie Platukis and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Peter and Leo; Sam Neil; Melany Markie; and Matthew Markie and his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Garrett, Payson, and Grayden. She will be remembered by two special friends, Marie and Corris; her extended family and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, of 51 years, Harry W. Markie. The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice and Pastor Mark York for their compassionate care of Pat. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Mattawamkeag Church of God with Pastor Mark York officiating. Burial in the Mattawamkeag Cemetery will take place in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
