Obituary of Mahlon W. Ryder

Greenville – Mahlon W. Ryder, 81, passed away January 7, 2024, at his home. He was born April 28, 1942, in Greenville, the son of Edwin B. Sr. and Faustena (Knight) Ryder. Mahlon proudly served the United States Army for 10 years including during the Vietnam War and was a proud member of the Greenville American Legion Post 94. Mahlon was a heavy equipment operator for Scott Paper Co. He and his wife, Deana, wintered in Florida for 6 years and shared many great times. Mahlon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and puttering in the yard that he always kept so beautiful. Mahlon is survived by his loving wife, Deana (Noyes) Ryder; daughter, Michelle Ryder; granddaughter, Lindsay Ryder; three great-grandchildren, Dallyn, Maddie, and Haley; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Charles Dean and Dean William Ryder; five brothers, Charles, John, Edwin, Howard, and Ralph; and two sisters, Virginia and Frances.
