Brownville - Jeannine Grant Butler Hayes, age 77, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2023, at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, surrounded by family and friends. She fought a long and courageous battle against health issues. Born on January 4, 1946, in Brownville, Jeannine was the daughter of Etta (Doane) and Arthur T. Grant Sr. She is preceded in death by her son, Brent, her parents Arthur Sr. and Etta Grant, and her siblings: Georgia Royal, Gary, Stanley, Keith, Martin, Arthur Jr., Terry, Eugene, Harold "Buddy," and Edward Grant. Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Lorinda Hayes Smith, and grandchildren Breann Price, Jordin Smith, Taylor Smith, and Brooke Smith. Also mourning her loss is her daughter, Theresa Hayes, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family expresses gratitude for the love and care provided by the staff at Northern Light Mayo Hospital, and they cannot thank them enough. Jeannine will be laid to rest in the Village Cemetery in Brownville, with arrangements entrusted to the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
