Obituary of Karen S. Burton

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Milo - Karen Schimpf Burton, 63, wife of Randy Burton, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023, surrounded and comforted by her family and loved ones after a short but courageous battle with high-grade Glioblastoma. Karen was born July 14, 1960, to Henry Schimpf and Judith (Fuller) Bissell. Karen was raised in South Windsor, CT, moving to Maine after graduating from South Windsor High School in 1978. She worked at Dexter Shoe for 18 years, but she had always wanted to be in the health field. She finally fulfilled that dream by going back to school and graduating as an RN from Husson University, Bangor, Maine. She worked at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, starting her nursing career as a cardiac floor nurse and then moving to Cardiac Case Management. Karen cared deeply about others, not just within her work but for her family and friends as well. If you called, she would be there. Karen was dedicated and selfless. She was someone anyone would strive to be like. She truly enjoyed making others feel happy and cared for. Karen enjoyed the outdoors, four wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting or just taking road trips. She dreamed of taking a road trip in a Stingray, stopping here and there because she could and wanted to. She loved seeing old and new places, loved the ocean, and most of all loved her family and friends. Karen will be dearly missed and always remembered. Karen leaves a beautiful legacy of love and family. Besides her husband, Randy, she is survived by her life’s greatest accomplishment, her two daughters, Megan and her husband, Lt. Colonel Robert Bell, of Oakland, ME and Melissa and her husband, Micah Sewall of Bowdoinham, ME; four grandchildren, Garrett Bell, Gabriel Bell, Emmalin Sewall and Keely Sewall. She leaves her parents, Henry and his wife, Marge Schimpf, of Windsor, CT, Judith and her husband, Bob Bissell, of South Jordan, UT; her two sisters and best friends, Denise and her husband, Scott Kaser, of Heber City, UT, twin sister, Kelly Beauregard of Lexington, SC, and best brother ever, Thomas and his wife, Janette Schimpf, of West Jordan, UT; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and his wife, Cheryl Burton of Sebastian, Florida; her many nieces and nephews, Brendan Longley, Alex Kaser, Anna Kaser, Brianna Schimpf, Brooklyn Schimpf, Matthew Beauregard, Erin Burton, Tricia and her husband, Nick Cesena. She will be remembered by very special family friends, Forrest and Karen Hartin and their children, Nichole and Vanessa. Karen was predeceased by her father-in-law, Hanford “Sonny” and mother-in-law, Diana Burton and brother-in-law, Maurice “Beau” Beauregard. Thank you to her work family who are too many to name. You all held a special place in her heart. She was so touched by how much love was sent her way during her illness. We thank you all for that. In place of funeral services, Karen requested a big southern rock BBQ to celebrate her life. We request all the people who love her to join us in celebrating her beautiful life with a meal and other festivities at Morgan Hill Event Center, Hermon, Maine on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 2:00-6:00 PM. She requested all to show up in casual attire. We encourage you to be prepared to share a story and/or how she impacted your life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Karen’s family at the Celebration of Life Event. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, ME.
