Greenville - Grant R. Bickford, 82, passed away August 10, 2023, at home. He was born August 8, 1941 in Norwalk, CT, and moved to Warren, NH, when he was 15 years old. He graduated from Orford High School, Class of 1960. Grant served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic and was on board the aircraft carrier Lexington during the Cuban Crisis; he was honorably discharged in 1964. He worked for many years as a mechanic for Volkswagen. He drove tractor trailers doubles on the New York freeway for over twenty years. He full-filled a dream of many years and retired to Moosehead Lake in 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife and companion of 34 years, Patty Laufman; his treasured daughters, Melissa and LouAnn; his sister, Aurelie; brother, James; and grandchildren, Aurelia and Josiah Oakley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Aurelia Bickford (née Kingsley); father, James Richard Bickford; and his sister, Judith. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or your local SPCA would be appreciated as these were organizations that were dear to him.
