SEBEC - Mary Kathleen (Bearce) Mallett, 84, died August 11, 2023, at the home she built with her husband and children on Sebec Lake. She was born in Dover-Foxcroft on April 1, 1939, the daughter of Kenneth and Corinne (Babin) Bearce, and grew up on Cherry Street. She met her husband, Duane Mallett of Sebec when she was 13 years old and they were together for 63 wonderful years before he passed away in 2015. They both graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1957, the same year they were crowned homecoming queen and king. They married in 1961 in Dover-Foxcroft and moved to Connecticut, Massachusetts and then Connecticut again before returning to Dover-Foxcroft in 1978 with their 4 children, where they resided on Pine Street.
After Duane retired from the phone company, they moved to their camp at Gates Landing on Sebec Lake, and wintered in Las Vegas for many years before Duane became too ill to travel. Mary returned to Las Vegas for the past 2 summers with her family where she ziplined, Superman style, down Fremont Street and gambled until the wee hours of the morning at her favorite casinos.
