Please share a memory of Diane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Greenville - Diane Carol Bartley Roberts passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, July 25th, 2023, with family by her side. Born on September 26th, 1933, to Hilda and Woodrouffe Bartley, Diane grew up in Greenville, and graduated from Greenville High School. In March of 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, John Julian Roberts, and together they had three children, Alan, Thomas and Judith. Diane worked for W.L. Bartley Inc. as a book-keeper and for various dentists’ offices in Greenville and at Lily Bay State Park, and enjoyed volunteering in her community for many organizations and clubs – far too many to list. Diane was a compassionate, caring woman and was loved and respected by many in our community. Diane’s love of photography and capturing countless family memories left her family with cherished photo albums that will preserve family gatherings, holidays and graduations, births and many other memories forever. With a love and appreciation of the outdoors and traveling, Diane loved spending time on Moosehead Lake, especially ‘Down Back’ with friends and family and explored the entire shoreline of Moosehead Lake by canoe with her husband. She traveled to several State and National Parks throughout the United States, enjoyed spending time with her best friends on their Red Hat Club adventures and was a life-long member of the Greenville Union Church. Diane is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Tony & Pinkie Bartley; brother-in-law, Bob Roberts; son, Alan Roberts and wife, Belinda; daughter, Judy Collins and husband, Gregg; along with her eight grandchildren, special among them, Benjiman and Robin, Allison and Trapper, Chris and Joanie, Hilaire, Hannah, Holly, and eleven great-grandchildren, Connor, Chloe, Tracer, Lakely, Gabrielle, Ripley, Jack and Max; several special nieces and nephews; special sisters, Darralyn Gauvin, Jan Douglas, Jeanne Lee; and very special nieces, Kristen and Amery Gauvin. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, John J. Roberts; son, Tommy (Thomas) Roberts; 4-legged friend, Duffy; and cherished feline friend, Lewie. A special thanks to the staff at C.A. Dean Nursing home for their love and care. “This is Diane Roberts, reporting to the Data Room.” A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Union Evangelical Church in Greenville, ME. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
