I received the sad message from my American sister, Lorinda Annis Schrager, that Mr. Poulin has passed away.
I had the great pleasure of attending Mr. Poulin´s P.O.D class (Problems of Democracy) at Foxcroft Academy during the academic year 1966/67 as an AFS student from Norway. I will always remember him as knowledgeable, warm, friendly, inclusive and full of humour and care for his students.
Five years ago, in 2018, at a 50 years` reunion at FA, I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Poulin again at an informal lunch at the house of my American family, the Annis family. An inspiring meeting, just as his classes.
My memories of Mr. Poulin remain in my heart. He was an extraordinary person who has made a great impact in my life.
In gratitude, I send my deepest condolences to the Poulin family.

I am so sorry to hear of this. I worked with and for Ray when he was Supt. in Guilford. He was a good man to work for and had an awesome sense of humor. Many times, during snowstorms, he would pick-me up with his truck on the way to work to make sure we got that payroll done. I have good memories of him and Sandy. My husband, Jeff also liked talking with him during his trips home during hunting season. Our condolences to all of you. Kathy Farrar

Ray came to Dover Grammar in 1963 when I was Principal. We had many things in common from duck hunting to training our Labs to sports in general and, of course, teaching kids. I found Ray to be a professional in teaching and all the activities associated with public education. Ray went on to a distinguished career in education. Joanne and I wish to extend our condolences to the family along with our thoughts and prayers.

Peter, David and Michael-On behalf of the Champeon family, please know we will miss your Dad so much. He was such a good man. Teacher, educator, outdoorsman, neighbor…we all learned so much from him and your Mom. Our family wraps our arms around you and yours. The pain from your loss is made better by the knowledge that he is now reunited with your Mom. We have so many wonderful memories of our times together to fall back on, and we are all grateful for that. Our very best to you and your families. John

I am very sorry for your loss. Mr. Poulin was a wonderful teacher. Extraordinary. I know this first hand as I was lucky enough to be in his first class at Dover Grammar in 1963. At FA a few years later, he was an advisor/teacher to my Norwegian sister, Marit Storeng, FA’s first AFS student. He took Marit under his wing and made her transition to a new school in a new country much easier than it might have been. From away, I followed his trajectory and his many accomplishments. In 2018, Marit visited again for my 50th year FA reunion. We had a small luncheon of Marit’s closest friends and Mr. Poulin and Penny came. It was wonderful to see him again and it rekindled for me all the respect and admiration I had for him as my teacher all those years ago. His legacy will be long and lasting. I will always be grateful to have had him in my life.

Ray has played a significant role in our professional and personal lives. He modeled kindness, integrity, and great wisdom for the Foxcroft Academy Board of Trustees and the Liaison Committee with RSU 68. He was a great educator whose mantra was, “Don’t forget about the students!” His cohort studies provided valuable data to help both Foxcroft Academy and RSU 68 with budget preparations on an annual basis. He was always supportive; having served in leadership roles throughout his career, he truly understood the nuances of educational leadership. He was a visionary about the collaborative model of leadership, which is the current model taught to graduate students aspiring to be educational leaders. Stacy and I will miss him greatly, as will this community. Our love and prayers are with Penny, the boys, and the family.

While I did not have the good fortune to have been one of his students, my younger siblings were. My Mom, Fran, worked with Sandra; my Dad, Bill, went fishing with Mr. Poulin. Stories were many and I always felt I knew them better than I really did. Sending sympathy on this loss to the family and the community.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Poulin’s passing. I will never forget the day of my graduation in 1988. That morning I went to the high school to have my underclassman friends sign my yearbook. When I left, a truck backed into the front of my new car right on the road in front of the high school. Mr. Poulin came out to make sure everyone was okay while we waited for the police to get there. I was so upset about my car being wrecked and he comforted me and calmed me down. He said the wise words “You can replace a car, but you cannot be replaced.” My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He was a wonderful man!

My sincere condolences to Ray’s family and friends. I first met Ray back in the 80s when he volunteered to be our auctioneer at the Ripley Snowmobile Club that we were just getting started and he continued to be our auctioneer for many years. I always enjoyed the time we worked together on the auctions and will miss his smiling face, his good natured attitude and his sense of humor.
I will keep his family in my prayers.

Junior Poulin was a huge part of our lives and the best Dexter Principle ever. Whenever I needed advice with my four teens in HS he was there. He supported our son who was wheelchair bound and got him what he needed. He was caring but firm and the school was run with great love and care. He was a great Dad and husband. He will be missed by many because he touched so many lives.

My Condolences to the family. I remember Ray as a fun loving teacher and coach. One memory will never leave my mind. I was manager for the JV basketball team and Mr. Poulin was the coach. At some point his prosthetic eye popped out and rolled in front of us. He grabbed it off the floor and put it back in, turning to us saying, “ is it in straight?” I set there speechless until a smile came on his face. Enjoyed his laughter and wit. Always made classes interesting and fun.
