Obituary of Lois “Colleen” Martin

GREENVILLE – Lois “Colleen” Martin, 94, died peacefully on July 8, at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital in Greenville with her twin daughters by her side. She was born June 13, 1929 in Greenville, daughter of Joseph and Emily (Dionne) Clark. She was one of 11 children and the last surviving sibling. Colleen married the love of her life Charles Stevens Martin on January 11, 1948 in Greenville. On May 10, 1955 Colleen and Charlie welcomed twin daughters into the world, Marjorie and Marcia. Colleen worked at many local establishments in Greenville and always enjoyed her customers. She was well loved and respected and had many longtime friends. Her biggest passion in life was her family. She was proud of all and had a special relationship with each of them. She had loving arms to hold you, was a safe place to talk and judgment was never made. To know her was to love her and love her they did. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles of 41 years in 1989, and 10 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Devlin and her husband Chris, of Jamestown, North Carolina; and Marcia Maxell and her husband Richard of Winston Salem, NC; five grandchildren, Marty Beckwith and Partner Nicole Ibarguen of Wilton, Maine; TJ Beckwith and his wife Barbara of Brattleboro, Vermont; Jody Savage and her husband Brian of Bath, Maine; Kyle Snow and his wife Kathy of Ellsworth, Maine; Kathryn Snow and Partner Canaan Jordan of Lincolnville, Great-Grandchildren, Ben, Olivia, Ari, Amos, Lilah, Cassidy, Josie, Autumn, Anders, Wylder, Aaiko, Reine and Great-Great Grandson, Mason; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Colleen’s family Celebrated her precious life with her when she made her pilgrimage back to her hometown in Greenville, Maine in March of this year after living away with her daughters for 30 years, the past decade in North Carolina. She stopped along the way to visit loved ones in Vermont, Portland & Bangor, Maine before residing at the Long-Term Care Wing at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital. Colleen was able to see many friends from near and far and celebrate her 94th Birthday with many of her loved ones. It was a very special time for her and her friends/family. Memories were made, hugs were given and her heart was full. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital for the tender, loving care they gave to Colleen. They treated her like family and honored her in her last moments here on Earth.
