Obituary of Robert S. Wyman

Guilford - Robert Stephen “Flub” Wyman, passed away peacefully on his 81st birthday, on March 13, 2023. He was born on March 13, 1942 in Guilford, Maine to the late James Wyman and Yvonne Pinette Wyman. He was the youngest of five siblings and was raised in Guilford. He attended and graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1960. After high school he entered a trade school in Ohio to specialize in meat cutting (butcher). After some part time work in various meat markets, he worked with his father, James, for the State of Maine building Interstate 95 from Portland to Houlton, Maine. After that he found work in Storrs, Connecticut for the University of Connecticut as well as various construction jobs in Connecticut. While in Connecticut he met Doris Ruff whom he married in 1998. Robert and Doris lived in Connecticut for a while then they relocated to Dexter, Maine. After living in Dexter for 10 years, Doris moved back to Connecticut. Robert remained in Maine, except for frequent visits to Connecticut until his death on March 13, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Yvonne Wyman; brothers, Thomas James, John Paul, Maurice Matthew; sister, Anna Emelia Page; nephew, David Joseph Page; nieces, Paulette Marie Page and Corey Lynne Wyman. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Doris (Ruff) Wyman, of Storrs, Connecticut; daughter, Yvonne Wyman Ward of North Carolina; step-daughters, Lorrie Wyman Noble and Connie Postler; and his step-grandsons, Joshua Postler and Cody Wyman, also of Connecticut. Robert also leaves behind nephews; Michael, Lance, Ryan Page, and Kim and William Wyman. In addition, nieces, Jeannie Wyman Welsh, Kelly and Andrea Page, and Michelle Welsh Darlian; furthermore, first cousins, David Pinette of Texas, Gloria Gallant of Portland, Maine, Lucille of Sangerville, Maine, Katheryn of Pittsfield, Maine, Yvette McLaughlin and her brother, Mark Gibbs of Massachusetts. There are many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, too numerous to name here, from Maine and elsewhere. The family would like to thank Northern Light Mayo Regional Hospital of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine and Northern Light CA Dean Hospital of Greenville, Maine for the care given to Uncle Robert during the last two years of his life. A special thank you to Uncle Robert’s hospice care team for their invaluable support, especially Pamela Tower. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, June 23, 2023, at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford, Maine. After the burial there will be a reception at Riverbend Homes Community Center, 99 Riverbend Drive, Guilford, Maine.
