Obituary of Gloria B. Lombard

Bangor – Gloria B. Lombard, 92, passed away November 13, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. She was born November 24, 1923, in Waterville, the daughter of Oma John Sr. and Cassie Marion (Brown) Lombard. Gloria received a B.S. from the University of Maine and an M.S. at Boston University. She taught one year at University of Maine, Farmington, and another at University of Maine, Machias, before moving to Massachusetts to teach in the Wellesley public school system for the rest of her teaching career. Gloria retired in 1984 and moved to Bangor. She built a camp on Piper Pond, Abbot, and enjoyed many summers there entertaining her friends and family from Massachusetts to Maine. Gloria is survived by a brother, John Lombard and his wife, Sarah, of East Millinocket; two nephews, Stephen Lombard and his wife, Brenda, of Gorham, and David Lombard of Dixmont; two nieces, Nancy Davis and her companion, Gerald Michaud, of East Millinocket, and Susan Miller and her husband, William, of Worcester, MA. She also leaves four grand nieces and nephews, Emily Wilson and her husband, Lee, of Etna, Laura Heideman and her husband, Eric, of Dunstable, MA, Harrison Miller of Burlington, VT, and Kevin Lombard of Medford, MA. A memorial service at the Lary Funeral Home, Guilford, will be announced in the spring of 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guilford Historical Society, PO Box 893, Guilford 04443. Burial will be in the family lot in Elmwood Cemetery, Guilford.
