Obituary of Thelma Knowles Weymouth
Abbot and Waldo - On May 15, 2023, Thelma Knowles Weymouth went to be with her husband of 72 years, David, after a period of declining health.
She was the oldest child of seven children of Dorothy and Clifton Knowles of Parkman, Maine. At birth, she did a brief time in Massachusetts for which she has received considerable teasing. She has one surviving sibling, Irene Luce of Parkman. She moved to Abbot when she married and spent many happy years in her home on Kingsbury Stream. She was the recipient of the Boston Post Cane for being the oldest resident of Abbot.
At 92 years, she could no longer safely live alone and moved to her daughter, Brenda's, home in Waldo where she happily watched the birds, our little flock of chickens, our minipig, several dogs and a cat. Her favorite description of them was "precious".
Katy Weymouth of Prospect and Polly Collier of Bar Harbor predeceased her as did her grandson, Steven Bridge, of Guilford.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Weymouth, of Waldo, Maine and five grandchildren as follows: Teresa Poindexter and partner, Richard Marsh of Port Orange, Fl.; Dean Collier, wife Brooke, children, David and Carly, of Bar Harbor, Maine; Sandy Collier of Lamoine, Maine; Terrill Libera and partner, Frank Duffy, of Williston, Fl.; Brett Libera, wife Amy, Brittney and grandson, Axel Libera. Jeremy Libera lives in Bangor and his daughter, Karmen, lives in Guilford, Maine. Gabe Libera, his wife, Chelsea, and their children, Noah and Rylie, live in Guilford, Maine.
Thelma loved animals and would appreciate support of no-kill shelters if it is your wish to donate in her memory.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Abbot. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
