Obituary of Gerald F. Vieira

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Blanchard - My father, Gerry was a loving father who always tried to do the right thing. First to admit that he wasn’t perfect, he was still the most honest, trustworthy and reliable person I’ve even known. He would readily admit he could get frustrated (and you’d know when he was), but in his heart you’d find endless love. He was a great friend to many. I’m incredibly fortunate to have had him for a father and this is a great opportunity to celebrate his story. He was the son of Julio and Laura Vieira. He started his life as the third of four children including siblings Julio, Betty, and Shirley. In a family that didn’t have much, they found a way to put him through Catholic school. He graduated from high school, served in the Army, and completed a 37 career as a very talented machinist at Revere Copper and Brass in New Bedford Massachusetts. He retired to Blanchard, Maine in the mid 90’s where he attended Abbot Evangelical Free Church later in life. He enjoyed fishing Trout, Tautaug, Sea Bass, Flounder, Fluke, Cod Fish and especially Striped and Largemouth Bass. He also enjoyed building cars. His accomplishments included a convertible sixty something Firebird (my first car memory), a Plymouth Barracuda, my first car (1989 Isuzu Pup) a Torino, an Opel GT, a Volkswagen Bug (which somehow was actually cool), a yellow 48 Ford Truck, a Studebaker, and his Purple 1929 Model A Ford with ghost flames that he drove till the day he passed. Oh, by the way, he built his own house in his 70’s. He was an awesome guy. Services will be held at Abbot Evangelical Free Church on Saturday May 13th at 11:00AM. Friends and Family are invited to the Lake Shore House in Monson, Maine at 12:30PM for Lunch. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
