Obituary of Marilyn E. Hill

Dover-Foxcroft - Marilyn Eileen (Stanchfield) Hill passed away April 3, 2023, at Pleasant Meadows Assisted Living Facility. She was born on August 15, 1928, in Guilford, the daughter of Harold and Hazel (Labree) Stanchfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Hill, sister, Gertrude Leighton, and brother, Omar Stanchfield. During her younger years she grew up in Monson and was always proud to be known as one of the “Tenney Hill Gang”. After her dad passed when she was 12 years old, she lived in Waterville and York. Many years were spent at her camp on Sebec Lake. She learned to cook and what a good cook she was! She was a stay home Mom in her children’s early years, always keeping a good supply of molasses cookies and Whoopie Pies when school was out. She said more times than not after cooking something, “I’m not sure how this is going to taste”! Anyone who tasted it knew it was good. Being a mom was her favorite job and her children always came first. Her smile and love were there in all the work she did. She worked in a nursing home caring for others. After the nursing home she worked 30 years for Phil and Jane Annis. Anytime she could get a good recipe from Jane, she would bring it home and make it. After retirement, she volunteered many years for Meals for Me, and PCC, a program at the YMCA to provide individual care for people with chronic illnesses. In 2003 she was awarded program volunteer of the year. She was past member of the United Church of Christ and the Mocotoc Club. She is survived by her children: Trudy Lunt and her partner, Gary, of Sullivan; son, Robin Hill of Dover-Foxcroft; and Bonny Largay and her husband, Tom. of Orrington. She leaves six grandchildren, Kelly, Barrett, Gabby, Aaron, Jason and Amy; seven great-grandchildren, Bentley, Olivia, Alayna, Justin, Tommy, Evan, and Dylan; and great-great-granddaughter, Paisley. The family wishes to thank Pleasant Meadows for the wonderful care she got while a resident and extends a special thank-you to her favorite nurse, Beth. Friends and family are invited to call from 1:00 pm until time of memorial service at 2:00 pm Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be in the family lot in Gray Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
