Please share a memory of Richard D. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sebec – Richard D. “Rick” Ames, 57, passed away February 10, 2023, with family by his side. He was born September 29, 1965, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Silas C. “Bud” and Joanne L. (Shorey) Ames. Rick spent his life working for the family business, SDR Logging. He was a very hard worker, and loved being in the woods. He loved driving the log truck and could operate any piece of equipment. His famous saying was, "I've driven more miles backwards than you have forwards." Which in most cases was true. He loved being out in nature, and really enjoyed hunting and fishing. He has many hunting trophies he was very proud of. Rick loved a good joke, and would brighten any room he was in. He loved laughing and also loved to make others laugh. A loud voice but a kind heart. Rick would lend a hand to anyone that needed it, who never hesitated to say what was on his mind. He was a genuine person, who was always himself no matter what. Rick is survived by his two daughters, Leandra Ames and fiancé, Hunter Ludwig, and Katie Perkins and her husband, Alan; grandchildren, Macee, Alfred, and Harlee Perkins; wife of many years, Rona Ames; father, Bud Ames; two brothers, Silas “Chuck” Ames and his wife, Vicki, and Douglas Ames and his wife, Jane; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Joanne. He will also always be remembered by his closest friends, Bruce, Francis, Scott and many others. Visitations for family and friends will be held 5-8PM Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A graveside service will be held in the Sebec Village Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
