Dover-Foxcroft - Judith Elmer Love, 90, peacefully passed away February 6th, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Judith was born October 24th, 1932, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to parents George Elmer and Jesse Anderson Elmer. Judy was a graduate of Cushing Academy class of 1950, where she was known as “The Blond Bomber”. She attended Tufts College in Medford, Massachusetts where she received a B.S. degree in Biology in 1954. She started her professional career in SAD 68 as their first teachers aid and went on to a full teaching position for many years at different schools in the towns of Charleston and Dover-Foxcroft. Countless students loved her as a teacher. She was a Pine Tree Hospice volunteer for 15 years. During her lifetime Judy treasured Maine and the outdoors. She was an avid downhill skier, loved to fish, bird watch, ride a bicycle, paddle a canoe and “the sport of camping”. She was an excellent artist and continued her craft for many years with lessons from local teachers. She was an avid gardener and shared many plants from her beautiful flower garden with family and friends. Her son, Jeffry Love; daughter, Wendy Love; granddaughter, Elizabeth Love Castro and husband, Cesar; grandson, Whit Love and partner, Chelsea Lenhart; daughter-in-law, Julie Love; and great-grandchildren, Carina, Mateo, Susannah, survive Judith. Her sons, Gregry Love, James Love, and an infant son predeceased her. A graveside service will be held at Rural Grove Cemetery in Dover Foxcroft on May 12th at 1:00 PM. Instead of flowers, donations should go to the American Diabetic Association. A celebration of life will be at 11:00 AM on May 13th at the Unitarian Universalist Church at corner of Church Street and Route 23 in Sangerville.
