Derby – Harrison M. Saunders, 78, passed away January 27, 2023, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Dover-Foxcroft at the old Mayo Regional Hospital on October 10, 1944, to the late Harrison and Phyllis Saunders. Harry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria (Munson) Saunders; his children, Mark Saunders and his wife, Laurie, of Derby; and daughter Katherine Brown of Charleston; his grandchildren, Veronica, Samantha, Caleb, Natasha, Kayla, Kendra and MJ; and his great-grandchildren, Eddy, Phillip, Joseph, Bella, Kate, Hailey, Lexi, Tessa, Cole, Cody, Caleb, Ariel, Anarie, Chloe, and Rachel. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Sharon of Virginia, Irene of Texas, Bernard of Skowhegan, and Byron of Dover-Foxcroft; and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Phyllis and Harrison Saunders; a son, Harrison Saunders, Jr.; a daughter, Phyllis Saunders; and a son-in-law, Lee Brown. Harry served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965 as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, He spent 35 years as a mechanic for Varnum’s Farm. Friends are invited to call from 2-4pm Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where a funeral service will be conducted 1pm Wednesday, February 1, 2023, with Pastor Bob Young officiating. After the service there will be a gathering at the American Legion Hall, Milo. Burial will be in the spring. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
