Lloyd was a great guy. I worked with him back in the late 80's and early 90's hauling wood for him. He was very patient and thoughtful. I still think of the days and the woodyards and the size of the loads I hauled for him to the various mills in Maine and Canada.
I will always remember joking with him and the crew...we had what I thought was a good relationship together...he was a fair and generous man and I will miss him even though it's been years since I last visited him and Andrea at their home.
My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and close friends. I am sorry that I cannot attend the service in Shirley.

I am very sad to learn of the departure of my great friend of long ago. My love to Andrea, Shawn, and Shy.
Linda and I were very young newlyweds from suburban Portland when we came to Greenville in 1973. I was to share many laughs with Lloyd and Andrea over the next eight years.
My first memory of Lloyd was at Folsom Farm for the teachers Sept? start of school kick-off party. Someone had a motorbike, and Ray Moreau decided to try it, and he accelerated, lost control, and drove into a Ford Pinto. This big fella next to me (Lloyd) said to me, "I wonder whose car that is." "It's mine," I replied. Lloyd looked at me surprised, then burst into laughter. That is my first memory of us sharing his sense of humor.
But, when I think of Lloyd and I, a moment in time, it was 1974. A mixup between Frank and Ralph resulted in me not having a summer job for my first summer in Greenville. Surprisingly, Lloyd decided he'd take the summer off too, much to Andrea's chagrin. So Lloyd and I played tennis... yes, this lumberjack was a damn good tennis player... then we'd go back to Lloyd's where he introduced me to corn chips and clam dip (just the right mixture of Worcestershire and lemon), maybe a whiskey and ginger, we'd sit in the sun, then take the boat out. Every Day!! Best summer of my life. Andrea was a tolerant wife, but I think she tired of me coming over and asking if Lloyd could come out and play.
Of course, other summers we both went back to work. But tennis and the lake brought us together. When I got my Golden Retriever, Beau, Lloyd would marvel in laughter every time Beau would run and jump maybe twenty feet in the air off the end of the dock. I remember a lot of foolishness, Lloyd laughing hysterically while I danced (jitterbug?) enthusiastically with Linda, whose was noncommittal leaning against the wall. I remember Lloyd laughing at and with Appaneal and/or Godsen. I remember picnics at Socatean. I recall Lloyd taking me smelting, driving up behind Squaw at midnight, trucking through snow so that I could get the limit with one scoop of the net. He was impressed that Lin and I would eat heads and all (probably wouldn't today). I remember Lloyd, Andrea, Linda and I getting a room in Portland (Holiday Inn by the Bay on way back from a Sox game?). Imagine it being 1 am, in bed, complete darkness and quiet, and realizing the temperature was oppressive. All of a sudden out the the blackness Lloyd yells, "Jesus, it's hot in here!" and in a flash Andrea is angrily tickering with the air conditioner... I may not sound funny, but Linda and I roared with laughter.
Another incident I felt bad about. I had just arranged to by a new steel Dover stove with a blower, but had to pick it up in Sangerville. So I went over to Lloyd's and asked if I could borrow his truck. He said, "Your kiddin." "No," I said, "Is there a problem?" After staring at me a moment, he showed me his truck, a brand-new Cadillac of a pick-up that he had brought home maybe two hours earlier. I, too, realize the honeymoon period between a man and his toy. I had just bought a state-of the-art stereo and would enjoy moments of just looking at it. So I immediately backed off and rescinded my request to borrow his truck, which Lloyd, realizing I knew how much he prized it, then generously insisted I take it. I remember Lloyd and Dan helping me lug the damn thing into the house (no dolly?) and I worried that if they hurt themselves it would impact their livelihood.
Lloyd was a fun-loving, generous man and great friend at a wonderful time in our lives. I will miss him and treasure memories of the shared good times. Knowing Andrea, Shawn, and Shyla in the 1970s is fun to remember, and Linda and I share our condolences.
