Dover-Foxcroft - Eugene W. Hutchinson, 80, passed away December 14, 2022. Gene was born January 1, 1942, in Concord, MI. He was adopted by his parents, Charles and Frances S. Hutchinson. He moved to Dover-Foxcroft in his early years and attended Mrs. Butterfield’s nursery school prior to moving to the west coast. His family continued to move around the United States while his father worked for the U.S. Forestry Service. Later his family moved back east and settled in Bethlehem, NH where he graduated high school. He attended Lawrence Academy before going to Boston University where he graduated with a B.S. in communication. He attended Plymouth State College and achieved his Masters in Public Relations. Gene worked in radio and public relations in New York. While working for the City of New York he created layouts for advertisements and informational brochures. Later in his career he worked for the Boston Symphony and New England Conservatory of Music. In the late 90’s he was downsized from his position and moved to his family camp in Dover-Foxcroft where he lived until his death. He worked for himself under contract until his retirement. He loved skiing and travel, learned several languages and read voraciously. He was often seen walking around the lake roads clocking up to 8 miles a day. Gene was predeceased by his parents and his wife. He had no siblings. A memorial service will be held this summer at his residence. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
