Obituary of Beverly M. Dow
Guilford- Beverly M. Dow “Mimmie”, 94, died Sunday, September 4, 2022, while surrounded by her very loving family. She and her twin sister, Barbara, were born in Dover-Foxcroft, July 14, 1928, the daughter of Austin and Wilhelminina (Jordan) Melia. In her early years she was an active homemaker, often taking care of neighborhood children. Later in her life she worked as a kitchen aide at Hibbard's Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, where she worked well into her 70's. Her nickname, Mimmie, came from her oldest grandchild and it continued with all 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing house, store, games, and being outdoors with all of her grandchildren. She loved to tell stories to them. Mimmie enjoyed traveling all over the country with her children. They would take her on many, many adventures.
She is survived by two sons, Gary and wife, Dalila, of The Villages, Florida, and Guy and wife, Heidi, of Guilford ,and three daughters, Diana Gilbert and companion, Jeff Carver, of Sangerville, Janet Stutzman of Homosassa, Florida, and Brenda Gourley and companion, Larry Hersey, of Guilford. Mimmie is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Pam Gilbert, Peggy Gilbert, Trevor Gourley and fiancée, Katie Hill, Donald Gourley and wife, Apryl, Allyson Dow and companion, Adam Chambers, Olivia Dow and companion, Tobey Cleaves, and Hannah Dow; 6 great-grandchildren, Stephen Bowley and companion, Amanda Mooers, Prudence Bridge, Ella Vieira, Sage Raye, Ariyah Chambers, and Brantley Gourley; twin sister, Barbara Robinson; step-daughter, Virginia Jehnings; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dana L. Dow; her son, Peter A. Dow; her grandson, Gary L. Dow II; her sons-in-laws, Robert Stutzman and Jason A. Gourley; and step-children, Carolyn Hersey, Patricia Stewart, and Dana "Jack" Dow. Mimmie touched the lives of many people throughout her lifetime. All who knew her were blessed.
A memorial service will be held 2PM Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft, officiated by Pastor Ray Beless. Burial will be immediately following at the Lee Cemetery in Dover-Foxcroft. Friends may call at the home of Brenda Gourley, Wharff Road in Guilford, after the services to share memories and refreshments. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
