Charleston – Janet I. Smith, 88, wife of Chester E. Smith, passed away July 31, 2022, at her home. She was born August 3, 1933, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Kenneth Churchill Sr. and Geneva (Richardson) Churchill. Janet had worked for many years at Viner Brothers in Bangor, and ran a day care center in her home for several years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping and going on trips. Her family was most important to her and she loved time spent with her children and grandchildren. Janet is survived by her husband, Chester, of Charleston; two sons, Peter K. Smith and wife, Patricia, of Brandon, VT, and Terry E. Smith and wife, Debra, of Charleston; a daughter, Robin L. Smith of Corinth; a sister, Virginia Fearon and husband, Robert, of Mt. Shaster, CA; and four grandchildren, Genna Barker, Colby Smith, Tyler Smith, and Cassandra Smith. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the family lot in Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
