I don't know where to start. Am still in shock that she is gone. The only comfort is knowing she is with her boys, her parents and her nephew in heaven where we will all hopefully see her again. Have spent the last few hours since I heard the sad news thinking of all the time we spent as kids and young adults doing silly things. Made me laugh and cry. She is a bright light that is gone way to soon. My heart goes out to you all as you walk this part of your journey. Give hugs to each other, and remember all the laughs and love Laurie gave along the way. She wouldn't want you to be sad -- she would want you to love on each other -- just like she would do if she was still here. Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort ... psalms 119:76

Ricky, I tried my darnedest to cross paths with you yesterday. Packed up some goods for you and headed up to Milo on 295 out of Portland, Maine. I should have listened to Jackson Browne on my way up there because I would have gotten there faster than I did listening to classical piano music. I swear that music makes you drive like an old fart and please don’t refer to me as an old fart. I am your cousin and not too much older than you! I ended up hanging out with your Mim after I made my rounds around Milo. Had flowers to deliver to Eddie Oakes as well. Good thing your Mom was with me. I would have gone to the wrong house I thought I knew Milo like the back of my hand, but things change, as they always do. Nothing stays the same as much as we wished it could or we think it should. I must say just going into your house to find a place in the refrigerator for the fruit platter brought back SO MANY MEMORIES! (I am very glad to see you ripped up the red carpet! There was no such thing as “red carpet” treatment at Gram’s. Her way or the highway…and many times I chose to take the highway! I saw the memory board the twins put together. It is beautiful. It is also very healing. They did a great job! It’s never easy saying good bye to someone you love even when you know they may be back to visit you before long. When you have to say good bye to the love of your life, knowing you will not be able to see her again in this world, it is absolutely heart breaking. There is no one who can truly know your pain, but your mothers understands all too well. We went back to her place. It was time for a beer. I drank water since I had to drive back down 295 and knew the cops would be keeping an eye out for me. I may have taken Drivers Ed with Eddie but I became a speed demon afterwards You will be happy to know I did not get a speeding ticket yesterday. It was a gift. I wish I had known you just had a birthday. Please invite me out to camp this summer when your Mom throws you the party that Lori would want you to have. We all need each other during the good times and the bad times. Know that I wish you to be at peace. It will come. It takes time. Be patient with yourself. May you receive the love and support you need from family and friends as you mourn the loss of Lori and move forward with your life.

Our hearts are broken for you all. Laurie was one of the sweetest / caring people we have ever known. Gone way too soon, but we have to have faith that he knows best, because she was definitely one person that deserved the best. She will live in all our hearts forever.
