To meet Nanny Kay was to fall in love with Nanny Kay. I owe her thanks for so many things. The most important thing Kay gave me was opportunity...opportunity love and be loved by the family and community she helped build. She shared her spark with some of the best people I'll ever know.

Kay, you were always a delight to visit when I spent time with Johanna as a child. You served as a wonderful role model as well. You were always poised, dignified and gracious. Also, I have long been enamored with the workings of local government. This was in large part to your influence early on in my life.
