Obituary of Ruth A. Musick
Dover-Foxcroft – Ruth Amanda Musick, born July 8, 1928, in Lewiston, the daughter of Chester and Effie (Irving) Sprague, passed away September 27, 2016, at Hibbard Skilled Nursing Center in Dover-Foxcroft, following a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was predeceased by her mother, father, one sister, Glenys Towner, her loving husband, Lawson A. Musick, and her son-in-law, Arnold L. Poland.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Musick) Poland of Dover-Foxcroft; a granddaughter, Samantha Poland and her husband, Andrew Furst; a grandson, Chad L. Poland and his wife, Emily; and four great-grandchildren, Ian Furst, Nathan Furst, Ethan Poland, and Hannah Poland.
Ruth grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946. While still in school she was employed by the Lewiston Public Library. Upon graduation, Ruth was drawn to the medical field. She began as a surgical technician at Thayer Hospital in Waterville. Later, she worked in Central Supply at the CMG Hospital in Lewiston, eventually becoming assistant head. After moving to Augusta, Ruth became a dental assistant in private practice and later at Togus until her retirement. After retirement, she volunteered for several years with hospice and was recognized for her dedication.
