Dover-Foxcroft – Sylvia Jean (Bates) (McEwen)Larry, 76, passed away December 20, 2021, at Hibbard Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dover-Foxcroft. Sylvia was born September 1, 1945, in Dexter, the daughter of Clarence C. and Mildred C. (Carle) Bates. Sylvia is survived by six children, Vincent McEwen Jr. and his wife, Raquel, of Dover-Foxcroft, Kevin McEwen and his wife, Donna, of Charleston, Sheila Larry and her wife, Patricia Pool, of Bonifay, Florida, Dean McEwen of Atkinson, Gordon Larry and his wife, Jennie, of Atkinson, and Austin McEwen and his wife, Mindy, of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Garrett McEwen, Tiffani Lynn Howe, Vanessa McEwen, Beth McEwen, Sheila McEwen, Justin Larry, and Alison Larry; seventeen great-grandchildren, Logan, Kaylee, Abigail, Jonah, Layton, Henry, Aleah, Connor, Mattie, Riley, Natalee, Angel, Blake, Olivia, Joy, Michael, and Lucy; two brothers, Laurence Bates and his wife, Beverly, of Dexter, and Gary Bates and his wife, Maureen, of Palm Bay, Florida; three sisters, Margaret McKenney of Dexter, Eleanor Pratt and Beverly “Tweet” Potter, both of Brooksville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both parents; two granddaughters, Vanna McEwen, and Liticia McEwen; and three siblings, Keith Bates, Rodney Bates, and Bonnie Breingan. The family wishes to give a special thanks to all the staff at Hibbard Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care to Sylvia. A graveside funeral service will be announced in the spring 2022. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
