Obituary of Omar N. Higgins

Harfords Point- Omar N. Higgins, 90, died February 26, 2016 in Fort Pierce, Florida, as a result of an accident. He was born on August 29, 1925, in Dexter. Omar resided in the Greenville area for the past 46 years and spent the last 40 winters in Florida with great friends. He owned many businesses in Greenville. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis, a Veteran of WWII, and an active member of The American Legion. He loved to dance, play in the Sunday golf scramble, ride his bike, and play tennis. He never liked to miss a spaghetti supper at the Methodist Church. He is survived by two brothers; three sons and wives, James and Patti of Newburgh, Scott and Alice of Augusta, Rick and Darla of Greenville; a daughter, Karen Elsemore of Greenville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia; a son, Mark; and a son-in-law, Rocky. There will be a celebration of life at the American Legion Hall in Greenville on March 12, 2016, from 11am – 2pm. A spring memorial will be held at Greenville Cemetery on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Post No. 94, PO Box 1222, Greenville, ME 04441. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Greenville.
