Obituary of Barbara J. Quirk

Abbot - With great sadness, the family of Barbara J. Quirk announces the passing of her death on Monday, November 15, 2021, at the age of 78. Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jim, always Jimmy to Barbara, of 52 years. Barbara, a native New Yorker, spent over half her life living in New York City. It was here that she met Jim at the age of 27 and was married eight months later. On their honeymoon, Barbara and Jim bought the plot of land in Abbot, Maine, that would later become their summer home and eventual residence. Barbara and Jim built their family with their two children, Jeanette and Jim. Barbara was a kind, loving person that was devoted to her family. She loved them completely and was overjoyed at the life she built with Jim and her children. Barbara loved her husband Jim with all of her heart and treasured every moment spent together. Barbara couldn’t be prouder of her daughter Jeanette and her accomplishments of becoming a principal and earning her doctorate in education. Barbara was ecstatic when her son Jim married Sarah, and they later had two daughters, Madalyn and Morgan. Barbara deeply loved and cherished her two granddaughters, of which she enjoyed spoiling as much as possible. To Barbara, family was everything. Barbara is survived by her brother-in-law John, his wife, Claire, and their three children John, Joe, and Kathy, all of Long Island, New York. Barbara loved spending time with all of them and watching her niece and nephews grow and make families of their own. Barbara is also survived by her cousin Ritchie Galliano and his wife Joanne of North Carolina. Barbara, an only child, always had a close relationship with Ritchie, one that spanned her entire life. She held many fond memories of them together and enjoyed Ritchie and Joanne’s annual trips to visit. In honoring Barbara's wishes, there will be a private service for immediate family members only in the Spring. Barbara always enjoyed sending cards to her loved ones. In lieu of flowers or a donation, the family asks that you honor Barbara's memory by sending a card to someone that you love. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
