Obituary of Michael W. Bonsey
Michael W. Bonsey, 63, died peacefully October 22, 2021, in Brewer. He was born July 17, 1958, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, and predeceased by his parents Ernest and Dian (Leighton) Bonsey. In 1964, his beloved grandparents, Manley and Marguerite Bonsey assumed care of him. Michael attended the Cerebral Palsy School in Bangor, and his grandmother volunteered many hours both transporting and working with students including Michael. He spent many summers at the family camp on Sebec Lake, where he enjoyed swimming and playing with his many cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Michael loved fire department memorabilia and his weekly visits to the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department. He also loved old radios and record players, juke boxes and pinball machines. He celebrated Christmas year round. He also enjoyed yearly trips to the Cole’s Museum with his family. Michael was known for his friendly smile and “Hi I’m Mike Bonsey” followed by a hand shake along with his “Aye” and a thumbs up. He loved everyone he met.
In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his loving aunt, Sharon Blockler and her husband, Nathan. He will be lovingly missed by his sisters, Gayle Bonsey, Debra Hayes and husband, Scott, Pamela Richardson and husband, Kenneth, and Melissa Ware and husband, Douglas, as well as cousins, Lorrie Blockler, Richard Blockler, Gerald Blockler, Daniel Blockler, and Patricia King. Michael was blessed with many nieces and nephews, Jerod Hayes and wife, Kathryn, and their son Benjamin, Kate Richardson and her children, Alexis and Carter, Justin Hayes and his wife, Samantha, and their children Michael and Madeline, Jason Richardson, Tyler Bonsey, Michaela Hayes and husband, Maurvin Patel, Christopher Ware, Stephen Ware and his wife, Jess, and Michelle Kearney and husband, Scott, and their children, Caitlin, Austin, and Andrew.
Friends are invited to call 5-7PM Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10AM Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Our Lady of the Snow, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be in the family lot in Dover Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department,105 East Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426, or to the United Cerebral Palsy of Maine, 700 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
