Obituary of Marie "Jill" V. Grant
Greenville - Marie Veronica “Jill” Grant, 94, passed away on October 8, 2021, at C.A. Dean Memorial Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Jill was born in Newport, NH, on October 7, 1927, to the late Eddie and Lena (Gonyo) Langevin. She graduated from Towle High School, Class of 1945. She loved the water and was a certified lifeguard and avid water skier on Lake Sunapee. She raised her daughter and granddaughter with the spunk and generous heart she was known for all her life.
She first encountered Moosehead Lake as a young woman in the 1950’s and returned to spend the last twenty-five years of her life there. She volunteered for Meals for Me, as well as on The Katahdin boat and in the Moosehead Marine Museum.
She enjoyed visiting the local shops in Greenville to talk with the many friends she made in town over the years. She loved keeping in touch with her family through video calls on her “Alexa” device and filled their visits with moose safaris, ice cream by the lake, and dinners at Maynard’s.
She was a lifelong Baptist and a longtime member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
Jill is survived by her granddaughter, Shasta Grant Huntington and her husband, Chris; great-grandson, Dagim, all of Singapore and Indianapolis; and dear friend, Tracy Mello, of Kannapolis, NC.
