Obituary of Evangeline "Honey" Thompson

Milo- Evangeline “Honey” Thompson, 80, passed away at her home on Monday, August 23, 2021. She was born on January 11, 1941, the daughter of Adolphus and Gertrude Gonyaw. Honey was passionate about poetry and was a strong willed independent woman. Honey was married to Gerald “Joe” Waterman, Sr. until his death in 1978. She then married Franklin Thompson, who passed away in 2003. Honey is survived by Joe’s three daughters, Carolyn Smart, Shirley Curtis and husband, John, and Judith Young and significant other, Brian Lafoe; Frank’s daughter, Gloria Bishop Lane and husband, Joseph. Also, surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her son, Ricky Dean Waterman; Joe’s son, Gerald “Gary” Waterman, Jr.; and her siblings, Randolph, Katherenne, and Rodger. As Honey put it, “Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me.” Family and friends are invited to celebrate Honey’s life 11am Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
