Guilford – Merle E. Herring, 89, passed away July 31, 2021. He was born November 1, 1931, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Donald and Freda (Brawn) Herring. Merle attended school in Dover-Foxcroft and served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Merle married Audrey Cowan and celebrated 26 years of marriage He was a jack-of-all trades, working in the woods, working with electricity, at Hardwood Products for many years, and retiring from Piscataquis Monumental Co. and the Lary Funeral Home.
Merle is survived by his wife, Audrey Herring; stepson, Daniel Freeley and Renee; and many nieces and nephews. Merle will be dearly missed and loved forever. His family would like to thank CHCS Healthcare and Penn Bay Hospital in Rockport for all their help.
