Obituary of Arthur A. Surette, Sr.
Dover-Foxcroft – Arthur A. Surette, Sr., 85, passed away December 28, 2021, at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born July 28, 1936, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of the late George M. and Flora B. Surette.
He is survived by his four children, Beldena Nickerson and her husband John, of Dover-Foxcroft, Mistie Buck and her husband, David, of Loveland, CO, John Surette and his wife, Kim, of Carmel, and Arthur Alan Surette, Jr., of Cornville. He leaves nine grandchildren, Joni Curtis and husband, Jason, of Dexter, John Nickerson, Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft, Samantha Buck and partner, Mark Barnes of Loveland, CO, Michael Buck and wife, Emily, of California, Mara Larby and husband, Keith, of Winterport, Joshua Surette of Portland, OR, Haley Surette of Skowhegan, Shayna Surette of Cornville, and Melissa Gray of Milford; and two great-grandsons, Justin Curtis of Dexter and Jace Barnes of Loveland, CO. He is also survived by several step-children and grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Slauenwhite of Massachusetts; two brothers, Paul Surette and Levi Surette; a step-sister, Doreen White of Old Town; two step-daughters, Penny Fergerson of Ohio and Pam; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, GeorgeAnn Millett and her husband, Lee, of Massachusetts. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp on Sebec Lake, as well as the time spent wood working.
Arthur worked for Meisner and Herring for 25 years as a mechanic, and for the Town of Dover-Foxcroft Public Works Department for more than 25 years. He made many friends over the years and will be remembered by Geoff Chambers, Baxter Stone, Alan Rush, Arthur Merrill, and the crew at the garage.
