Monson- Laurance M. “Larry” Erickson, 93, passed away February 7, 2024, at a Dexter Nursing Home. He was born May 29, 1930, in Guilford, the son of the late William and Elsie (French) Erickson. Larry lived in Monson nearly his entire life, raising his family after serving in the military as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He worked in the woods as a machine operator for much of his life, retiring in 1992. You could find Larry working around his house and garden, and mowing that huge lawn right through the last summer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, competing in bowling and horseshoe tourneys in his younger days, family cookouts, and sharing a good whiskey with his best friend, Ed Brady. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Geraldine; his loving wife, Frances; daughter-in-law, Ruth Erickson; and son-in-law, Jeff Saulnier. Larry will be missed by his children, Kathy Foss and husband, Steve, Laurie-Sue Cookson and husband, Edward, Terri-jo Clough and husband, Alan, Laurance Erickson Jr., and Kimberley Saulnier. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wendy-Sue, Jenny, Eric, Monica, Marie, Jill, Kelly, Erin, Sarah, Jesse, Chelsea, Kristyn, Justin, Jordan, and Mara; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends. A celebration of life and 94th birthday get together is being planned around Memorial weekend, with details to be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
