Cambridge – Jesse Thomas Smart, 71, husband of Lynda L. (Taylor) Smart, passed away September 24, 2016, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 4, 1945, in Dexter, the son of Philip Clayton and Flora Louise (Cookson) Smart. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved putting puzzles together and yard-saling. He enjoyed his business of transferring movies from VHS to DVD. He was a generous man and would help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife, Lynda, of Cambridge; two sons, Eric Smart and his wife, Laurie, of Kentucky, Scotty Smart and his wife, Stacy, of Virginia; a daughter, Karen Smart, of Cambridge; two sisters, Gloria Poulin and her husband, Tony, of Dexter, and Virginia Tyler and her husband, Fred, of Cambridge; five grandchildren; and his Piscataquis Community High School Class of 1963, who was not family by blood, but family by choice. A graveside service will be conducted 2pm Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the family lot in Lawn Cemetery, Guilford. After the service family and friends are invited to gather at Jesse’s home, 558 Dexter Road, Cambridge, to share fellowship and to celebrate his life.
